Vecher by Claude Munich [1]

Vecher is set of the following Unicode characters:

X2F23 [2], KanjiRadical

X5915 [3], KanjiLiberal

Word Vecher can be pronounced as Yuu (ゆう) and refer to meanings of characters , : approximate equivalent of evening.

Etymology

Notation Vecher is chosen in analogy with Russian word вечер, that has similar meaning(s).

Need in such a notation raises from the fault of representation of Japanese characters in computers. Up to year 2021, the default fonts cause confusions: characters JapanTa ( ) look similar to each other.

Term vecher is defined to avoid the confusion: this word is difficult to confuse with character X30BF (KatakanaTa).

Semantic

Vecher may mean:

1. Time interval since 17:00 to 19:00 local time.

2. Time interval since one hour before the sunset to one hour after the sunset.

In tropical and subtropical regions, especially at autumn and at spring, these two meanings are similar.

These meanings agree with description of character X5915 by Jisho [4] and other dictionaries.

Also, in Japanese, word Vecher may mean "X2F23 or X5915 ", as short substitute of the long and complicated construction.

Synonyms

The closest synonym is Yuu (ゆう), but term Yuu has many meanings. In addition to vecher, Yuu may refer to the following characters:

X512A [5]

X5E7D [6]

X6709 [7].

Such a variety gives large opportunities for distortion of messages at the translations from phonetic Japanese to written Japanese and back.
