Lev Kamenev, Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (Deputy Prime Minister) and Leon Trotsky, People's Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs and the Head of Revolutionary Military Council, look from the steps. The speech was delivered during the Polish offensive and Lenin specifically said that the claims that Polish troops took over Kiev are untrue. Photo date: May 5 1920. The place is Theatre Square (at the time Sverdlov Square). The short version of the speech was published in Pravda issue 96 May 6, 1920. Українська: Голова Ради Народних Комісарів (Прем'єр-Міністр) РРФСР Володимир Ленін виголошує промову, мотивиючи війська для оплоту польському наступу під час Радянсько-Польської війни.
