Description
In 1844 Nobel's father Immanuel demonstrated his land mines for Russian military officers. Afterwards, he painted the picture o scene, in which he appear as a short, top–batten man in the foreground. The Russian were impressed, and bought the weapon. During the Crimean war, the underwater version of the Nobel land mine was sued against the British fleet.
