Russian military contractor Wagner carries out chemical attack against Government of National Accord forces, says minister. 22.04.2020.

TRIPOLI

Russian private military contractor Wagner was accused by Libya's interior minister on Wednesday of carrying out a chemical attack in Libya.

Wagner mercenaries used nerve agent against Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) forces in Salah al-Din area in southern Tripoli, Fathi Bashagha told reporters.

“We are in a strong cooperation with Turkey, US and UK to ensure security in Libya,” Bashagha said.

The minister added that Tunisia and Algeria are also giving support to the country in issues of security.

Wagner Group

Russia’s Wagner Group is one of the most controversial groups among the mercenaries. It is owned by to Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman with close links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Bloomberg, it was reported that the Wagner Group, where over 1,000 militias came to Libya, brought Russian pilots who carried out training activities for the Haftar troops, and Russian Sukhoi-22 type war planes are seen in Libyan skies.

Mercenaries who previously had field experience in Ukraine, are fighting on the front-line in Libya, according to Euronews.

On Jan. 11, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that more than 2,000 Wagner mercenaries were currently fighting in Libya.

President Vladimir Putin, asked about Russia's involvement in the Libyan conflict, replied that no Russian servicemen were in Libya acting on behalf of the Russian state or receiving payment from Russia.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) poses a threat to Libya's national security, Bashagha said, adding that the Arab country wants to continue the chaotic atmosphere in Libya.

Since the ouster of longtime ruler Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, two seats of power have emerged in Libya: Haftar in eastern Libya, supported by Egypt and the UAE, and the GNA in Tripoli, which enjoys UN and international recognition.

The GNA has been under attack by Haftar's forces since last April, with more than 1,000 killed in the violence. The Tripoli government launched Operation Peace Storm on March 25 to counter attacks on the capital.

Russia’s Haftar-backing Wagner accused of using chemical weapons in Libya

Russian private military contractor Wagner was accused by Libya's interior minister on Wednesday of carrying out a chemical attack in Libya.

Wagner mercenaries used a nerve agent against forces of Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) in the Salah al-Din area in southern Tripoli, Fathi Bashagha told reporters.

"We are in strong cooperation with Turkey, U.S. and the U.K. to ensure security in Libya," Bashagha said.

The minister added that Tunisia and Algeria are also giving support to the country on issues of security.

Russia's Wagner Group is one of the most controversial among mercenary groups. It is owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman with close links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to reporting by Bloomberg, the Wagner Group brought over 1,000 militias to Libya, including Russian pilots who carried out training activities for Haftar troops. Bloomberg also said Russian Sukhoi-22 type warplanes were seen in Libyan skies.

Mercenaries who previously had field experience in Ukraine are fighting on the front line in Libya, according to Euronews.

On Jan. 11, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said more than 2,000 Wagner mercenaries were currently fighting in Libya.

Putin, asked about Russia's involvement in the Libyan conflict, replied that no Russian servicemen were in Libya acting on behalf of the Russian state or receiving payment from Russia.

Interior Minister Bashagha also said the United Arab Emirates poses a threat to Libya's national security, adding that the Arab country wants to perpetuate the chaotic atmosphere in Libya.

Since the ouster of late dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011, two seats of power have emerged in Libya: Haftar in eastern Libya, supported by Egypt and the UAE, and the GNA in Tripoli, which enjoys U.N. and international recognition.

The GNA has been under attack by Haftar's forces since last April, with more than 1,000 killed in the violence. The Tripoli government launched Operation Peace Storm on March 25 to counter attacks on the capital.

Previously, Wagner was accused of trying to bring back Gadhafi's son Saif al-Islam into power. According to an article penned by Samer al-Atrush for Bloomberg, two Russian agents working for the Wagner Group were caught last year by the GNA.

The documents stored in the hard disks of the captured Russian agents revealed that the agents met three times with al-Islam, who was wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In one of the meetings, al-Islam used numerous documents about his father's financial aid for election campaigns in some Western countries as a trump card, the article asserted.

A Russian election campaign adviser also joined one of the meetings, the article said, and Russia offered to portray Gadhafi's son as a rising actor in the country in a possible election.

In the meetings, al-Islam claimed that 80% of the fighters loyal to Haftar are his supporters and if they capture the capital, those fighters would support al-Islam, according to the notes of Russian agents.

Haftar calls the group he leads the "Libyan National Army" and wants it to be treated as an official army. In fact, however, Haftar's armed forces work like a dealership and try to gather all militias under one roof.

A large number of militias from Libyan tribes in the east and west have merged with their ranks. Others who have joined the putschist commander include members from the public committees established by former ruler Gadhafi, the extremist Madkhali Salafists, Janjaweed militias of Sudan, who have a very controversial history, the rebels in Chad, Russian mercenaries and military officers from Egypt, the UAE and France.

It is claimed that the force comprises 25,000 to 30,000 militias, including 7,000 trained military personnel. The Brigade 106, the largest and best-armed among them, is led by Saddam Haftar, the putschist commander's son.

Turkey and Russia called for a cease-fire in Libya starting from Jan. 12, following a meeting between the two countries' leaders in Istanbul.

Libya's High Council of State and the GNA welcomed Turkey and Russia's call to reach a cease-fire in the country. Haftar forces, however, refused to comply with the agreement and continued their attacks in the war-torn country.

Russian daily accuses Wagner of war crimes in Syria

Meanwhile, the Wagner group was also accused by a Moscow-based daily on Wednesday of war crimes in Syria.

In a report titled "Thugs 2.0," Novaya Gazeta published footage of the murder of Syrian national Hammadi Taha al-But by Wagner mercenaries.

According to the newspaper, Hammadi was captured in June 2017 during a battle with the Daesh terrorist group for the al-Shaer gas field in central Syria. He was allegedly tortured and decapitated and his body burnt with his head hung on the fence of a nearby gas processing plant.

After reporters in Novaya Gazeta identified one of the murderers, Stanislav Dychko, the newspaper submitted its relevant materials as evidence to Russian investigators and the country's attorney general, asking for the incident to be verified and for its alleged perpetrators to be punished. Authorities have yet to respond.

The daily's editorial board claimed that it provided all necessary facts to open a criminal investigation, including the time and place of the incident, at least one participant in the crime and quality footage and photographs that allowed the other accomplices to be identified.

The board also invoked the Russian Criminal Code, which, besides imposing life imprisonment for premeditated murder, also sentences convicts to up to 20 years for ill treatment of combatant or civilian prisoners during war.

Novaya Gazeta published documents showing that the al-Shaer gas field was captured by Russian firm EuroPolice, a company associated with Wagner, and the firm's close ties to Russian authorities.

Libya government accuses Russia's Wagner mercenaries of 'chemical attack' in Tripoli offensive

Russian private firm Wagner helped mobilise an alleged nerve gas attack by Haftar's forces in the Libyan capital, the GNA said.

Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha has accused militias of Khalifa Al-Haftar's self-described Libyan National Army (LNA) of using banned chemical weapons in southern Tripoli, and alleged that Russian security firm Wagner Group played a role in the alleged attack. The UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) official told reporters on Wednesday that Wagner mercenaries used a nerve agent against Libyan forces in the Salah al-Din area.

"In the Salah al-Din axis, our fighters were exposed to nerve gas from Haftar's forces, and were paralyzed and then sniped. This deed can only be carried out by Wagner," Bashaga said.

The private contractor, also known as PMC Wagner, has deployed mercenaries in Libya fighting alongside Haftar's self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA).

While Bashagha did not disclose further information on the exact kind of nerve gas allegedly used against GNA fighters, an Egyptian-Canadian photojournalist in Libya has given his witness account, after witnessing "dodgy" symptoms at a Libyan hospital.

Amru Salahuddien wrote on Twitter that he witnessed on Wednesday several GNA fighters falling to the ground, "slightly shaking and unable to breathe normally".

Over the weekend, Salahuddien said he was in hospital receiving treatment when he saw GNA fighters with "no visible injures" shaking and vomiting with "epilepsy like symptoms".

An alleged Libyan doctor writing under a pseudonym said the attack was unlikely to have used nerve gas.

Libya's sarin precursors were handed over before its revolution, while chlorine does not match descriptions of witness accounts, he said. "Most likely it was incendiary white phosphorous."

The GNA minister called on Russia and other allied countries of Haftar's forces to halt their support to the militia.

Amru Salahuddien

I saw 2 #GNA fighters at the field hospital with no visible injures shaking and vomiting with epilepsy like symptoms,I didn’t ask as I was injured & receiving treatment myself, today I can confidently confirm that #LNA is using some kind of a nerve gas @ Salahuddin front

Bashaga said the "never-ending reports" of violations in Libya were being "recorded in history", adding that the GNA would use the "evidence" to pursue the parties responsible in international courts.

Since the LNA launched their offensive on Tripoli in April, both sides of the conflict have reiterated accusations that the other was deploying foreign forces in the ongoing civil war.

The pro-GNA Turkish President Recep Erdogan has said that over 2,000 Wagner mercenaries were fighting in Libya, while Putin denies Russia’s direct involvement in the conflict.

Putin world war

2020.04.22.Chemical weapon at Lybia appears as element of more general historic phenomenon, denoted with term Putin world war. This term includes the Russian invasion into Georgia (2008-2020), the Russian invasion into Ukraine (2014-2020), the Russian invasion into Syria (2015-2020), and the set of terroristic acts with use of all kinds of weapon, prohibited by the international agreements.

In particular, the isotopes of polonium (See Putin killed Litvinenko, poisson of class Novichok (see Boshirov and Petrov), and the biologic weapon Coronavirus (2019-2020) seem to be used in this war.

No exception seem to be done for the Russian citizen; they are targeted as well as the foreign countries. The action vary from the political murdering of critical authors to the contamination of cities with goal of plundering of property by the symbolic price, bulling, fining of citizen that no not follow the regimen of "self isolation" and selling of passes, that happen to be necessary for the Russian citizen in order to move from one place to another.

In such a way, the Putin world war can be qulalified as total hybrid war against the Human civilization. The embargo on the transferring of money for the Russian natural resources (oil, gas, minerals, wood) is expected to scale–down the aggressive behavior of the Russian administration and, as a result, to stop the Putin world war. However, at least, for 2020.04.22, no significant moderation of the Russian aggression is reported.

Corruption

Reports about use of the chemical weapon by the terrorists sponsored by the Russian administration show good agreement with general concept, that corruption in Russia of century 21 not only got the large scale, but became the typical, usual phenomenon, that characterizes the entire life of the Russian officials.

The news about Vagner terrorists show good agreement with general qualification of that troops as terroristic organization, alias of administration of Vladimir Putin. Thousands think, that it is necessary to Designate Russia as state sponsor of terrorism.
