22-year-old Nikolai Popov from Chita spent one year in the war. The guy was looking for money to feed his family, and “bought” into the cheap lie of the command that no one would send him to the front. The signed contract instantly turned into a one-way ticket. 

“100 people came to us. Almost everyone died! Mostly from drones. “One-shot” flies in – and the person just goes to pieces. They didn’t even get into the firefights”

When Nikolai, together with the survivors, went to surrender, he expected torture or execution. Instead, he received food, water and cigarettes – an ordinary human attitude that he had never seen from his own commanders.

Today he appeals to those who still believe propaganda and military commissars: no money in the world is worth this horror, and the only way to survive this senseless war is to give up on it or surrender.
