Description
RUSSIAN STRIKE AIRCRAFT CONCENTRATION
YEYSK AIR BASE - RUSSIA
Satellite imagery collected overTeysk Air Base on October 6th
and analyzed by The War Zone following the reported October 17 crash
of an Su-34 nearby reveals a large concentration of Su-34 strike
aircraft at the naval aviation training facility. The imagery shows 10
Su-34 Fullback fighter.bombers lined up on the main apron,as well
as 7 Su-25 Frogfoot close air support attack aircraft. Historical
satellite imagery indicates both types of aircraft arrived at Veysk Air
Base, located just 50 kilometersSouth of Ukraine across the Sea of
Azov, over the course of the summer in a likely reconfiguration of
Russia strike capabilities. In addition to these strike aircraft, a
variety of other aircraft can also be seen such as a pair of Su-30SM
Flanker-H fighters in alert position, and a variety of other Russian
naval aviation aircraft such as An-26 and An-72 transportaircraft,
Il-38 maritime surveillance aircraft, a Be-200Ch5 amphibious
firefighting training aircraft, and two Tu-134 UBL (nicknamed "Black
Pearl") personnel transport aircraft formerly used to train Tu-22 and
Tu-160 strategic bomber pilots.
