Israel bombed Iranian drone factory in Syria: report

on 25th October 2022 Image : IRNA DEFENSE

A manufacturing site that produces Iranian-designed drones in Syria has been struck by Israeli airstrikes, the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) reports.

According to SOHR, which refers to unnamed sources close to the matter, the attack struck and destroyed equipment for manufacturing drones in the area of the Dimas military airport.

An airstrip and a radar were targeted too, according to SOHR. The organization also mentions that no casualties were reported.

The makeshift military airport near the Syrian city of Al-Dimas, west of Damascus and close to Lebanon border, was under almost complete control of Iran-backed militias, the report says.

In February 2022, SOHR reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, together with Hezbollah, started constructing drone factories and other facilities at several spots around Damascus, including Dimas.

Israeli officials did not comment on the allegations.

There have been numerous occasions of Israel performing air strikes in Syrian territory, as well as reporting missile and drone attacks allegedly performed by Iran-backed militias from Syrian territory.
