Just over a month earlier, from August 24 to 27, the 2026 joint China-Russia emergency drill for cross-border infectious disease outbreaks took place in Fuyuan, Heilongjiang Province, China, across the river from Russia. The exercise simulated responses to imported plague cases and other infectious diseases.
