The interviews of Ruvim Pechor with journalists of the «Clever Times» and the «Paygirl» attracted the world-wide attention to Tartaria: to Norga, to the «Norga Warm» and to the «Century Heater Testing Laboratory» at Komi; just sufficient to make the direction of the BBC to send the staff writer Ben Candid Hitchcock to Tartaria.
Owner of the «Norga Warm», Mozdok Tsuker called Ruvim.
Mosdok: My friend, I suspect, you upset with the interviews you gave, is it so?
Ruvim: Kind of.
Mosdok: I do not want you to keep the negative opinion about me. Would you like to give interview to a respectful informational agency?
Ruvim: It depends. Term «respectful» may have different meanings..
Mozdok: Is BBC respectful?
Ruvim: I tink so.
Mozdok: Good! Ben Candid Hitchcock from the BBC arrives Amonalka tomorrow.
Ruvim: Wou.
Mozdok: Remember my advice. Think before to say something. Don't be afraid of pauses. They can be removed from the final version. Do you understand?
Ruvim: Yes.
Mozdok: So, you become a new «Movie Star».
Ruvim: Aha. With real chance to be burned out as a supernova star, as soon as anything goes wrong.
Mozdok: Ruvim, do not be pessimistic. A year ago, your position was much worse.
Ruvim: Thank you, Master.
Mozdok: Ruvim, when you say «Master», it sounds a mockery.
Ruvim: It is not my intent, Mosdok. This is only your feeling. You feel that you are doing something wrong, and attribute this to me.
Mozdok: You are a genetic dissident, Ruvim. We cannot change you. El genio y figura, hasta la sepultura.. Well, I value your criticism; it helps in work. That's why I got you out of Murka. But still, I repeat: try not to show your skepticism so openly.
Ben Candid Hitchcock looked perfectly polite gentleman.
- My respect, professor Pechor.
- The same to you, sir Hitchock.
B: I appreciate the opportunity to talk with you, mister Ruvim.
R: I am glad that our achievements attract your attention, mister Ben.
B: I wanted to know your opinion about your products, about your laboratory, about Komi, about Tartaria..
R: Why namely my? I need to understand your goals, then I'll be able to answer better your questions.
B: Our goals have remained unchanged for two centuries: honest, reliable information.
R: In Tartaria, all the information is available at Libraries.
B: Yes, I know. I browsed many records related to you.
R: What can you get from me that cannot be extracted form the original records?
B: Your opinions. Your feelings. It is not recorded and not stored in libraries.
R: I can talk about my research during many hours in row.. I doubt it is interesting for your watchers.
B: I looked the compressed versions of your records, the summary of your report on the Century heater, your presentation at the Nuclear Congress and your interviews with.. some..
R: Let's call them "Yellow Press".
B: Yes, thank you, mister Ruvim.
R: Have you seen the published versions or the original records?
B: Both.
R: Are your religions senses damaged with the original records from Tartaria?
B: Not at all. I saw the original records of orgies of cannibals, there some partners were killed and eaten. Tartaria with your story is not my worst case.
R: Thank you for the compliment.
B: Please tell us what were your most important and memorable events, incidents in Tartaria?
R: wow.. there were many..
B: Take your time.
R: First of course Gella Ivanov..
B: Small preteen girl?
R: Yes, you know.. She pilots the passenger flyer..
B: Yes, she has the pilot license. And the license to wear and to use the machine-gun. Very smart girl.. Then?
R: Then I was testing the biper, and it showed me Gella nude peeing in the public toilet.. That toilet did not have any door.. Then, the students of all ages together.. And the 8-year old sexworkers picking up the old pedophiles at the Po Lin shop.. and records of that do they do with their customers.. in public.. sometimes, just at the parking lot in front of the shop..
B: Were you surprised? Did not you know about Tartaria before the arrival?
R: Being in the USA, I had red about such tings. I did not believe, but I was already prepared. Anyway, it is not so horrible as using of the non-selective weapon during the Bigpuf.. You know, my family and I had been escaped before the total “Catharsis”.
B: Yes, I know.
R: Some journalists pretend that the todays Tartarian customs are worse than things happened during the Bigpuf.
B: What is your opinion, to you think the current custom are worse?
R: I try not to categorize events in terms «good», «bad». Our universe is build by God in such a way. There may be good agreement with the experiment, and the model becomes theory. There may be bad agreement; then the model is rejected. Perhaps, it is very cynic point of view, but I saw the beginning of the Bigpuf. Those who were not cynic, were killed that time and have no opportunity to answer your questions.. That time, there was mass murder, genocide. Now there is no genocide.
B: Can we return to your memories? What are your other most memorizable adventures?
R: The «Cannibal tale». I mean, the performance..
B: I know that play. It shows, that the modern civilization is more barbarian than the savage tribes of cannibals. Were you impressed with this idea?
R: No. I knew this idea before I saw the play. Well, the play was perfect; it exposes the hypocrisy of modern Western leaders. But the actors had portrayed the scenes of cannibalism very naturally. The virtuoso acting created the impression that the artists playing the missionaries indeed had been killed, disemboweled, roasted, cooked, and partially eaten right there on stage, and then offered to the audience as a treat. I almost threw up.. In the last scene, the actors improvised with the same actors to show that they were alive. It was the strongest play I ever seen in my life.
B: Anything more?
R: I think, again Gella.. She invited me to her home, and her parents.. They also participated.. They even helped Gella to undress for me.. Perhaps. I should not retell that had happened; over vice, your censors do not allow you to show our interview.
B: Suffice it to say that such a description would be inappropriate by the standards of Victorian morality.
R: Yes, Thank you..
B: Perhaps, also the cranberry tree and the radioactive swamp. Do you remember that?
R: Yes. It happened that I did not know about the important new specie, «Cranberry tree»..
B: Were you afraid?
R: Yes. I was strongest shame in my life.. And the Radioactive Swamp.. I was about to die there..
B: Was that a memorable impression?
R: Yes, of course. And also the evening in spa with Agent and Barbara. But it was not so strong; it was my second time, and both partners were adult..
B: Anything more? The court with Nata?
R: No, I had expected something like that.. Perhaps, the impressive was the slave biper. The special collar that cannot be removed.. by command of the Master it affects the center of pain or the center of pleasure in the brain. I knew about such experiments with animals, but with Humans.. Very scared..
B: But you liked the "pleasure"?
R: The fear turned out to be stronger than the pleasure.
B: Now you wear no collar, only the soft biper, do you?
R: I paid for this with total obedience. I do not know, what is better, but I had chosen this way.
B: Any other strong impression?
R: The Stockholm syndrome. My ex-wive had been raped by 3 sportsmen in front of me, we both were slaves.. I think, this statement is sufficient to describe the case.
B: Yes, of course.. All this refer to Murka. How about Norga?
R: Overall, Norga was less dramatic than Murka. At least for me. The only thing that bothered me was the fear that our project fail... Well, the Mozdok's project. That is, the federal grant. The original specifications for the Century Heater seemed idiotic to me: 1000 watts, 100 years, 10% tolerance.. It was as if the parameters of the specification had been chosen out of a love for round numbers.. But we found the solution: 2kg of Pu-241 plus 8kg of Am-241; it was strong sensation for me.. And also.. In Norga, I tried few exercises from book «Kurangita». Our partner, Yuma, asked Nata and me to do it. I agreed.
B: Was that difficult?
R: It was strongest pain I ever suffered in my life.. Yuma apologized. She said, we have to begin more gradually.. Yuma does these exercises daily. This may be interesting for your watchers; it seems to be stronger than a regular yoga. But please, warn them; let them never try to do this by themselves.. It’s a strange combination of masochism and self-vivisection.. You may see what Yuma has done to her body.. If you need an actor for a horror performance or movie, I recommend Yuma. She can show many horrible tricks in vivo, without any montage.
B: Will you tell anything about Komi?
R: Komi is much warmer than Murka or Norga.. no, the air temperature is colder, the wind is stronger, more snow and ice. I mean the people, the relation between people. They are more native.. I try to describe.. They consider marriage very seriously.. If a married Komi woman has sex with some partners, her husband always also participates. If a married Komi man brings a woman to his home, he choses time, when his wife is at home. And the same about visits. If a married Komi woman visits her boyfriends, she comes with her husband, and her husband is last to enter her.. It is just opposite to that popular in the so-called Westen Civilization.. Well, all this happens not so often; the life of the people at Komi is very hard; most of time they fight against the cold.. And the reindeer herds.. I think it is very heavy job. No one can explain how the locals manage such large numbers of animals. It looks as if the reindeer understood that the indigenous see from satellites exactly where the best grazing is for the herd.
B: How did they treat you, alien?
R: Generally well. May be that is because I distribute the fruits and vegetables from the greenhouse.. Mozdok ordered the Norga default standard; it is biggest greenhouse for Amonalka. First, I worked in the greenhouse all the time and did not contact the people.. Then, even the first harvest happened to be bigger than I can eat by myself.
B: You are biologist?
B: Formally yes, bud the quantum genetic is very far from the agriculture.. I continue. At Tartaria, the destruction of food is prohibited. So, I offered my neighbors vegetables; then fruits.. They responded offering me the fresh meat.. All this without money. It wasn’t even barter. Simply an exchange of gifts. Then, even milk.. It looks as a kind of the prehistoric communism. Formally, the shop exist, you can buy with money; they distribute their product to other farms and perhaps to other countries; many of them pay taxes, but at the first glance it look as communism in the utopical, idealistic meaning of this term.
B: You mentioned the milk.. Is it the reindeer milk?
R: I do not know. We need to watch the movies. I suspect, it's difficult to milk a female reindeer. There are few caws at Amonalka. Also, they milk women. Especially the dependants. I mean the female slaves. Each time when a small child had eaten the milk from her mother, the relatives suck out all the rest of milk from her tits. I saw this through the web cameras. I think, this is sufficient for your reportage; so, I omit the details.
B: Yes, of course. Do you feel that the people are happy, prosper here?
R: Compared to life on other farms, they live in extreme poverty. You know, Komi is the poorest farm in Tartaria.. Many women sell their children as they cannot maintain them at the level they would like.. Formally, they have the national healthcare system, but in practice it is limited to epidemic prevention.
B: The Federal Library says, Komi has the highest mortality rate in Tartaria..
R: Yes. Please, look at the age distribution. At Komi, the infant mortality dominates. At least partially, this can be attributed to incest; here it is very popular. Perhaps, here, it is dominant mode of the relations.. Also the Bigpuf. There were no shelters at the place, where Komi is now. The name should not confuse you: The current borders of Komi farm are very far from that called «Komi» in the past centuries.. I return to the highest mortality. I think most of the children that die everyday at Komi could have been saved in Galia.
B: At Galia National University of Tartaria?
R: Yes. Department of Biology. If your look for a sensation, for a scandal, watch the report on the medical experiments performed at the Department of Biology. They use children for experiments.
B: You worked here, did you try to stop this practice?
R: No. I used to grow and to work in the place, where Tartaria is now. Genetically, I am Tartarian. We all, both Tartarians and emigrants from Tartaria, are barbarians. This is kind of selection. People with some "humanistic" idea were suppressed, expelled, imprisoned, killed in wars, state terror, Gulags and Bigpufs. That genocide lasted duding many centuries. We have slavic nature, slavic culture. The slavic, slavian obedience.. The same mentality acts, if a slave becomes a master and handle his of her own slaves in the cruel way.. Perhaps, the last is even worse.. There is song about the Slavian obedience.. I try to remember the title.. «Au revoir, esclave»? It was in Russian.. Something similar to «Прощание рабыни»..
B: «Белла чао»?
R: No.
B: «Farewell of Slavianka»? I mean «Прощание славянки»?
R: Yes, «Прощание славянки»! It is two centuries old.. Or older.. One even says, we have slavic genes, an extra chromosome, although the last statement seem to be not confirmed with the genetic analysis. But the idea catches the important feature of our mentality.
B: You appear as strong critic of Tartaria and Slavians.
R: No. It is just scientific approach. Any researcher, analyzing the historic documents, comes to the similar opinion.. Well, perhaps, you want to hear anything in support of Tartaria. We have evidences in favor of the Department of Biology. Please, check the mortality among the children, victims of the experiments at the Biology department, and compare it to the Tartarian mean value for the same age category..
B: Hmm.. That could be if you use the healthy patients for the experiments.
R: That is impossible. The healthy children are expensive. In general, Lesli accepts and/or buys for symbolic price the patients that are expected to die in few days, sometime few hours if not treated or treated with conventional medicine. Our Top Doctor Glem Gvardina grows the artificial organs for them. Even genitals. Imagine, if one skillful technician has the advanced 3d printer and access to all materials required; such a technician can repair, in principle, any mechanism, just replacing all broken details. All organs, except the brain, he does. This not my specialty, but I suspect, in principle, Glem can cure ANY illness, whenever inherited or injury or infection; either known and described in literature of a pandemic caused by a secret biologic weapon released yesterday. In the case of pandemic, this may cost several lives; Glem spends them testing his working hypothesis one by one. However, the regular cases are easier. This is my personal feeling and my personal estimate. If you get strong illness, and the British doctors say, that you have no chances, then consider the Galia University; there, at the Biology department, you have chance. Please ask the specialists; I expect, they will suggest similar estimates.
B: Your explanations confirm the public opinion. The mentality of Tartarians differ from that of the Western Civilization..
R: We had hundreds years of genocide. Perhaps, you did not have anything similar since the crash or the Roman Empire. Even the world War II; I mean, the Battle of Britain. The UK lost many thousands. The Moscovia lost many millions. And the same repeated, lasted during, say, 6 centuries. The Oprichnina, the gendarmerie, bloody wars — from the 16th century to the beginning of the 22nd century. We are a peculiar, strange species: «Sovkopithecus», «Homo Soveticus».. Most of the population had been killed.. They did not see any difference between History and Politic, they said: «I'm not interested in politics!».. Then, they did horrible things, they had approve the horrible things. Then the similar actions had beed applied to themselves. They did not understand: «А нас то за что», «Товарищ Сталин, произошла чудовищная ошибка!». («What are we being punished for?», or even «Comrade Stalin, a terrible mistake has been made!")..
B: But the Soviet period lasted less than a century..
R: The slavery existed even before the USSR. And the Oprichnina, KGB did not disappear at the collapse of the USSR. And the most important, the mentality of appeasing aggression. Now, in Tartaria, the appeasing aggression is prohibited by law. One who commits the appeasing aggression, is not only a victim, but also a crime accomplice.. I learned a little bit the history; it helped us to escape from the Bigpuf in time, while it was still possible. The specialists, except the professional killers, sho did not know the History, they did not understand, what is happening; they did not flee and most of them were murdered and eaten.. Please correct me if I am wrong.
B: Basically you are right. Not so many Tartarians, well, Moscovians, know history.
R: Those who did not know, are dead. The most of them. Those who survived become terrorists, cannibals.. Tartarians cannot follow the European standards. If they try, that will be a second Bigpuf, «Moжем повторить».. Sorry, I got too excited with the topic. I had declared myself a cynic; so, I try to follow the declared pattern.. I am not yet Tartarian, but I used to live at this territory at the beginning of the Bigpuf, and I feel the collective responsibility for the loss of the civilizаtion here. We all try to recover it: the citizen, the residents, and even the dependants, slaves, similar to me.. In this sense, we are in the same boat, the masters and the slaves.
B: Do you see any civilized solution for Tartaria? I mean the civilized, prosper future?
R: Yes, of course! The Tartarians build-up the new civilization, because our old civilization had been broken.. At least since century 21. Perhaps, even since century 20, then the terror take the widest scale, begin pandemic. We have very few documents about century 20; the war crimes used to destroy the evidences.. This is that I got from the history of Tartaria and news about its development. This is my look from inside. Consider to compare my opinion to that of the British historians.
B: I see, you are optimist.
R: My Master ordered me to be not pessimistic. I try to follow..
B: Thank you, mister Ruvim, for the interesting conversation.
R: Thank you too. You forced me to formulate much of what I knew but did not dare to turn into verbal statements.
- I think, here we stop our videoclip, - Ben told.
- How about some tartar with fruits? - Ruvim asked.
- Thank you, but just a little.. I shall have the heavy flight.
Ben ate a small portion of freshly minced venison with onions and washed it down with juice. Then he visited the "bathroom". However, the toilet was not room at all; Ben had to pee under the view of web cameras.. Then Ben said goodbye and left.
The flier was waiting for Ben Candid Hitchcock near the «Century Heater Testing Laboratory». As soon as mister Ben Hitchcock boarded, the flier run and took off.
One might assume that Ben Candid Hitchcock believed the words of Ruvim Pechor and the authenticity of the original movies from the Komi National Library, the Norga National Library and the Tartaria Federal Library. However, it was not the case. Ben was looking for the verification. In flight, Ben called Mozdok Tsuker. Mozdok replied:
- Sorry mister Ben. I am occupied with by business and I have no time to talk with you. Why are not you satisfied talking with Ruvim Pechor?
- I need to know various points of view.
- Well, you may enter the territory of Norga Warm. You may talk with the workers, while you do not distract them from their duties. Have a good time.
Ben Candid Hitchcock landed at the Norga Warm Airfield. He was ordered to park the flier at the Hangar. At once, Ben payed also the refueling.
Ben asked the Norga National Library to find some people at Norga Warm who has time to talk with him.
The Interface suggested the top of the administration:
Femistokl Zalupaev, top constriction engineer of Norga Warm;
Pesia Zivertov, top chemist of Norga Warm;
Yuma Hahalev, top dosimetrist of Norga Warm;
Valkiria Povtor, top psychologist of Norga Warm;
Kolyan Gopnik, top mechanical engineer of Norga Warm.
Ben knew that talking to recommended respondents was the fastest way to get biased information. Also, Ben was very skeptic about any kind of robot advisers. But Ben switched on the robot guide at his biper. Ben was walking at the installations trying to guess that could be missed/altered at the records of the library.
Several years ago, Norga Warm was just an industrial zone, populated mainly with slaves and residents (not citizen) that Mosdok Tsuker had employed from the trulags or bought for minimal price at the Slave Market. Most of Tartarian citizen did not consider the deal with waste and converting it to fuel as a serious employment.
Some of the employees had children. Some females residents who worked for Mosdok, become pregnant and gave light to babies. For them, Femistokl Zalupaev, following orders of Mozdok (and the foundation), had built the School. Mozdok had employed one Algerian, Hamad Izrak, as the teacher/director. Izrak was polyglot: he was fluent in English, French and Arabian; also, being at Tartaria, Izrak learned few sentences in Russian. Some classes of English, Physics, Mathematics were given by workers of Norga Warm. But the class of French language was given by Izrak himself. With Izrak, the children used to learn the French songs and had performed the simple performance in French.
The free information is a double-edged sword.
Ben easily got information about the Norga Warm School and its director Hamad Izrak, and decided to visit the school.
But Hamad Izrak also immediately got the alert that Ben Hitchcock is approaching.
Tartarians respect foreign visitors. Especially journalists.
As a quantum-mechanical particle, Tartiaria immediately reacts at any attempt of its direct observation. In such a way, Ben, as any other foreign journalist, had no chance to watch the natural Tartarian life. The archive movies, protected from any alteration by the Tartarian Constitution, provid less biased information.
The French class of the school at Norgavarm badly needed spectators for their performances. En fin, such a spectator, Ben, appeared. All the school got excited.
Izrak Hamad was black.
Izrak Hamad was friendly.
Izrak Hamad was smiling.
Izrak Hamad met Ben Hitchkok with impolite question:
- Parlez-vous français ?
- Un peu… - Ben Hitchcok answered.
- Oh, c'est treat bien! - Hamad said, and cried:
- Les enfants ! Allons interpréter «La Mère Michele» pour notre visiteur britannique !.. Igor ! Te souviens-tu, où est ton costume de chat ?
- Oui, maître» - one small boy replied. He opened the cupboard and took out the costume.
Igor undressed nude, and one big girl painted him in red with magenta dye. Then she helped Igor to dress the costume of cat. While they were preparing the cat, Hamad distributed other roles:
- Masha ! Tu seras Mère Michele. Préparez ton costume!.. Vovchik ! Tu seras Père Lusercru.. Je serai le boucher. Sarah, peux-tu porter Igor?.. Bien! Tu seras la client... Oups, Pierre est sorti… Qui veut être le voisin?.. Semeon?.. parfait.. Le poisson est là.. Le parfum du poisson.. ventilateur… Est-ce que j'oublie quelqu'un ?.. Tout le monde se souvient de son rôle?.. Tout le monde est prêt?.. Alors, commençons !
Igor-cat hidden himself. Masha put on a large red sundress with exaggeratedly large fake breasts and climbed onto the table as «La Mère Michele». She begun to look to all sides around. One child switched on the strong spotlight and directed it to Masha. It was a theatre for the single spectator. Hamad switched on the sound-trek. The audio started playing and the children sang along:
C'est la mère Michel qui a perdu son chat
Qui crie par la fenêtre à qui le lui rendra
C'est le père Lustucru qui lui a répondu:
«Allez, la mère Michel, vot' chat n'est pas perdu!»
The last line at the soundtrack was suppressed; Vovchik's voice sounded unexpectedly bass.
The singing of dancing children drowned out the audio:
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tradéridéra
Et tralala
Vovhcik approached Masha. Following the song, they performed the dialogue:
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tradéridéra
Et tralala
The light operator directed the spotlight to the third table. There, Semeon with Igor had performed the action of the last couplet. Ben felt the horrible smell of marinated herring. The smell was too strong for a single fish, mentioned in the song:
Mais la Mère Michelle avis le voisin
qui découpait du poisson dans son cuisine.
L'odeur formidable était insupportable.
Et chat de mère Michelle sautait sur la table.
At the end of the couplet, small Igor, again dressed in the costume of cat, jumped on the table from somewhere above, and the artists begun to dance. With loud voices, overdoing the soundtrack, they sand the refrain:
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tralalala
Sur l'air du tradéridéra
Et tralala
During the refrain, Igor-cat had eaten something from the table. Masha-Michele sat on a chair. Igor-cat jumped at Masha-Michele laps and begun to lick her face and to purr very loudly.
The soundtrack finished. The small artists and their teacher lined up in front of Ben and bowed. Apparently, they had repeated the performance many times before to achieve the perfection shown.
Ben applauded.
- Do you understand French, Ben pro? - the children asked, - Do you like our song, mister Ben?
No interesting for Ben information cold be extracted from children, nor from their teacher.
Izrak Hamad considered Ben Candid Hitchcock as a visual educational artifact, suddenly felt in his hands.
Children knew that all the information is available at the National Library and in the Federal Library. So, they tried to understand, why Ben visit Tartaria instead of to pick up all the required videos. Ben tried to answer their questions. It was the most difficult case in his practice. Ben failed.
En fin, Ben left from the school.
Ben talked also with specialists of Norga Warm recommended by the Interface of the Norga National Library.
The content (chapter 13) happened to be inappropriate for the BBC; so, one may just skip it.
Then Ben pinged the Coordinator of Norga, Tolian Horoshilina. Surprising for Ben, Tolian agreed to give his interview any time; «Right now is fine». Ben flew to Norga Administration Office. The resultant interview is described in chapter 14.
