Bengt Holst
Bengt Holst is director of zoo at Copenhagen, Denmark, who got famous after the killing of the giraffe Marius in 2014.
Many people upset, that the giraffe had been killed and used as food for predators in front of customers of the zoo. It is believed that Marius had been killed because of his pure genotype (his parents were close relatives). Many authors criticise Holst for this. [2][3].

According to Holst, the killing of animals is immanent part of their life, both in the wilderness and in the zoo. One cannot maintain a zoo without killing animals. As for the way it had been done – children should know what are animals and what is life of animals. One should not hide from children this side of life.
